German sales manager employed for the Japanese machinery maker Seika Corp. based in Dusseldorf, Germany who was among one of the 150 passengers and crew members killed in the airplane crash of Germanwings Flight 9525 when the Airbus 320 jet crashed into a mountain in the French Alps in southern France in March 2015 shortly after reaching cruise altitude while the captain was locked out of the cockpit during a routine flight from Barcelona, Spain to Düsseldorf, Germany in what would be the third-deadliest air disaster in mainland France in four decades behind Turkish Airlines Flight 981 in 1974, in which investigators said the plane was crashed deliberately by its co-pilot Andreas Lubitz who had previously been treated for suicidal tendencies and declared "unfit to work" by his doctor, but reported for duty nonetheless.
